The chic Park Cities encompass Dallas’s most picturesque communities, well-known for stunning collections of elegant homes, upscale condominiums, and stylish high-rise living spaces. In an area that includes the Town of Highland Park and City of University Park, the Park Cities are always considered among America’s most desirable places to reside, with a reputation for a fashionable standard of living and tiny neighborhoods with distinctive southern charm and a friendly manner.

Tree-lined streets and manicured lawns are an integral part of the unique charm that attracts families to live in the storied community located in the heart of Dallas. Highland Park is 2.26-square miles and University Park is 3.75-square miles, affording residents a beautiful variety of parks and exceptional green spaces to enjoy. There is an array of recreational and leisure activities ranging from swimming and tennis to playing baseball and hiking. Turtle Creek, a small tributary of the Trinity River, flows through the area and offers ideal locations for outdoor exercise, family picnics and respites. The Dallas Country Club, the oldest full-service, family-oriented social club in Texas, is also located in Highland Park.

Premier shopping, dining and entertainment options surround residents who live in the Park Cities. Highland Park Village is a Texas landmark, the first self-contained shopping center in America with an international reputation for unprecedented luxury retail and fine dining in a historically-rich outdoor setting. Glamorous boutiques such as Balenciaga, Cartier, Chanel, Dior, Frame, Hermès, Tom Ford and Valentino. Close by, the quaint three-blocks of Snider Plaza, located at Hillcrest and Lovers Lane, features specialty and gourmet options, beloved casual restaurants (Kuby’s, Penne Pomodoro) and modern conveniences including a Tom Thumb grocery store, dry cleaner, nail salon and several banks.

Preston Center also has a variety of shops (Tootsies, J McLaughlin, Bachendorf’s), office space and quality restaurants (Il Bracco, Muchacho, Hillstone, True Food Kitchen). Many of the children living in the Park Cities attend schools in the well-respected Highland Park Independent School District. A number of private schools with educational services for preschoolers to teens are also available including Ursuline Academy of Dallas, The Hockaday School, Jesuit College Preparatory School of Dallas, St. Mark’s School of Texas and more Southern Methodist University is a stately landmark in the area, a prestigious private research educational institution constructed in a classic Collegiate Georgian architecture and surrounded by lush landscaping across a lovely campus.

With nearly 12,000 students, Mustang athletics include football games played in Gerald J. Ford Stadium and basketball games at Moody Coliseum. The George W. Bush Presidential Center, also located within the boundaries of University Park near SMU, opened in 2013 with all living U.S. presidents in attendance. Today it is a worldwide humanitarian touchstone for a variety of events, activities and international conferences. In terms of population, Highland Park has nearly 9,000 residents, while University Park is around 23,500.
